HI-TECH INFRASTRUCTURE

The college has well equipped an air-conditioned Audio-Visual Lab which provides facility for multi-media teaching and learning facilities. This means lecture Theatre is fully equipped with an LCD Projector, over headed Projector, DVD Player, Digital Camera, Colour TV, White Board etc.

INTERNET FACILITY

The college has network resource centre in which 100 computers and one server work on LAN through Broadband of BSNL, AIRTEL. Staff and Students have free access on internet.

GYMNASIUM

In addition to academics, the college also pays attention to the health and fitness of the students. The gymnasium is a proud addition to the services and facilities offered to the students. The college has invested over two lakhs on equipment for the gym, which includes cross-trainers, multi-gyms, treadmills, upright bikes, recumbent bikes, and stationary bikes.

SOLAR PANEL

Solar energy goes well with smart technology and education. It’s an ideal energy source for powering cost-conscious and eco-friendly facilities that serve thousands of people. Clearly, solar has a bright future since it reduces energy costs, lessen current greenhouse gas emissions and hence provides a sustainability design.

• 4. Another major benefit is that once they are installed they don’t need much maintenance. The glass and frame that protects solar cells are very strong and durable.

FIRE SAFETY

Why is fire safety and prevention important?

Here are some statistics that may surprise you,

• • During an average year, there are approximately 2,000 fires on college and university property across the nation. (This does not include off-campus apartments or Greek housing.)
• • From these fires, there are an estimated 15 deaths of college students, staff, or faculty. Over half of the people who died were legally intoxicated.

Fire safety is taken very seriously at D.A.V (P.G) COLLEGE, KARNAL, for the protection of every member of our community.

How is D.A.V (P.G) COLLEGE, KARNAL free from fire?

D.A.V (P.G).COLLEGE is protected by advanced fire detection and extinguishing systems. These systems provide immediate notification of a fire or smoke situation. These systems are great but only effective if people respect the alarm when activated.

WATER HARVESTING SYSTEM

Due to rapid increase in day-to-day demand for water among fast growing human population, there lies a great opportunity of harvesting rainwater to meet the scarcity of water and avoid destruction of the normal groundwater level. The boon of rainwater harvesting is that the unused or extra water can be sent down the aquifer to charge the groundwater level.

Rainwater harvesting is an important environment friendly approach. It is a Green Practice having double benefit of keeping the groundwater level undisturbed and charging the aquifer. This green practice can be encouraged in the form of Community Development Program. Rainwater and run-off water, stored in a planned way, can save the earth from soil erosion and flood and recharge the aquifers to increase the groundwater level. The extensive and unplanned use of groundwater has not only disturbed the natural water level but also has made the groundwater contaminated and unfit for use. Collecting and harvesting rainwater and run-off water would reserve the water for future generation. Rainwater harvesting is eco-friendly and economical. The cost of digging a catchment area can be saved by roof-top collection of rainwater. The catchments and settlement tanks reduce the ground heat and act as a natural cooler. The best part of the practice of rainwater harvesting, is that if unused, this water can be collected in natural ponds or artificial tanks and decanted to the ground thus charging the a aquifer.

Objectives:
To increase recharge of groundwater by capturing and storing rainwater, by rainwater harvesting from rooftop run-offs.
To store the water for gardening & washing purpose.

ULTRA-MODERATE CANTEEN

The objective of the Canteen and meal service is to protect by reducing the risk of foodborne illness, with proper sanitary conditions, and preventing adulterated food. From the very beginning of the College in 2003, the College Canteen has been functioning efficiently. The canteen is located inside the College. The hostellers and day scholars are provided meals by assuring food safety and quality.

The students who come from faraway places, start their journey to the College early in the morning. The mid-day meal is provided. Even many day-scholars use canteen facilities for their breakfast and evening tea with snacks.

The Management of the Canteen is directly under the control of the College Administration. The Contractor of the Canteen is selected according to the available and suitable quotations. A well-experienced person in food services management, his team is managing, the canteen of D.A.V College, (Karnal). Students and staff of the College are benefited by the College canteen.

The menu will be planned by the assigned team of Management and instructions will be given to the Contractor. The contract of the Canteen will be renewed every year. The periodical meeting will be conducted by the team of Management and Contractor in order to appraise the function of the Canteen. Liberalization of food trade, growing consumer demand, physical set up, and sanitary conditions are also discussed during the appraisal. Also, suggestions, complaints, and problems of the food consumers are taken into consideration.

GIRL's COMMON ROOM

To facilitate our female students, the Campus has established a spacious and comfortable common room, which is in college main building. This space has been designed to give female students a place to relax, study, have informal discussions in free time available. College has a provision for Girls Common Room where the girl students may sit, rest and go for recreation. Measuring 25’x50’ ft. this room is equipped with drinking water facility, a water cooler fitted with water purifier, an attached washroom with Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine, elegant furniture, indoor games, electricity, CCTV and Wi-Fi enabled etc. The room is properly ventilated, well- lit, neat and clean to provide a friendly ambience to its users. Daily newspapers, magazines, periodical and journals are available for leisure reading.

Dispensary

In order to provide round the clock medical facilities to the students, a dispensary is situated on the campus that attends to unforeseen medical emergencies. The dispensary is under the supervision of well qualified and experienced doctors.

Salient features in this regard are,

• 1. Free medicines to students & staff from the college dispensary.
• 2. A tie-up exists with a local multi-specialty hospital for attending to serious medical complications.
• 3. To deal with emergency cases, ambulance is available round the clock to carry the patients for treatment at surrounding hospitals.

Herbal Garden and Composite pit

Green House and Herbal Garden

To continue rich practice of promoting greenery in campus and encourage experiments on medicinal plants D.A.V (P.G) College has established green house and an herbal garden inside campus. Plants of different varieties and rich in medicinal values are also part of this green house and herbal garden. We keep on adding new plants every season.

OTHER FACILITIES

Fee Concession

Fee concession to meritorious students/Girl Students.

No Tuition fee is charged from any Girl student of B.A. / B.Com. / B.C.A. as per directive of the state Government.

In case of two real brothers/sisters half fee concession shall be granted to the younger one.

Book Bank

Needy and meritorious students are given text books for the whole year out of this bank. For further details students should contact the concerned Head of the department or the principal.
